The Mission and Vision: The National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) improves the lives of the 1 in 5 of us who struggle with brain-based learning and attention issues related to reading, math, writing, focus, organization, and more. Our mission is to empower parents and young adults, transform schools, and advocate for equal rights and opportunities for the 1 in 5. We’re working to create a society in which every individual possesses the academic, social, and emotional skills needed to succeed in school, at work, and in life.As the NCLD Field Organizer I am informing, empowering, and mobilizing parents and advocates in three states around key issues relating to learning and attention issues. I am responsible for helping NCLD develop a cohort of parent advocates, the planning and hosting of training sessions for parents, and managing the organization’s grassroots advocacy efforts on specific issues. As the Field Organizer, I serve as the primary point of contact for parent advocates and assist in building NCLD’s presence and networks in three states.I am responsible for-Relationship building and family engagement skills, including active listening, facilitation, and community and personal empowerment skills-Leading and planning multiple training sessions -Maintaining relationships with parents, state and local decision makers, and partners-Collaborating with NCLD policy & advocacy team to develop and execute a grassroots advocacy strategies that align with NCLD\'s policy priorities.
