ABOUT SUSAN LAVIER

I am currently the Director of Risk Management for Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet). TriMet provides bus, light rail and commuter service in the Portland, Oregon, region, and I oversee the Risk Management and Insurance programs for the organization. Prior to my tenure at TriMet, I was the Director of Risk, Safety & Insurance for Eclipse Senior Living. Eclipse managed all operations for Senior Living Facilities in 105 communities in 27 states. I oversaw the national Workers Compensation, Auto, Property, GLPL, insurance/claims program; the driver/safety compliance program, as well as the OSHA compliance program for the Elmcroft Senior Living and Embark Senior Living portfolios. Eclipse Senior Living was established by following the transition of Holiday Retirement relocation from Oregon to Florida. I was the National Workers Compensation and Risk Manager for Holiday Retirement servicing over 300 communities in 43 states. Holiday made the decision to relocate the corporate office from Oregon to Florida, which opened up the opportunity for prior Holiday executive managers to create a new Senior Living Company - Eclipse Senior Living. This provided me the opportunity to create and develop from scratch the Risk Management, Insurance & Safety Department for Eclipse Senior Living. Prior to my tenure at Holiday, I spent 11 years supervising and managing the Workers’ Compensation Claims Department for Citycounty Insurance Services (CIS), a self-insured pool providing all lines of benefit coverage to Oregon governmental entities. I worked for 6 years at SIMS/Pinnacle, a Temporary Processing Agency (TPA) dedicated to the CIS account, and then in August of 2004, CIS brought the claims unit in-house. Overall, I served Oregon Municipalities for 17 years and have been employed in the Workers’ Compensation and insurance industry for over 30 years. For 15 years I was a member of the Oregon Self-Insured Association (OSIA) Legislative Committee. For 4 years I was acting Co-Chair for the OSIA Legislative Committee, participating and testifying at the Governor appointed Management Labor Advisory Committee (MLAC), Rule Making Advisory committee meetings, and legislative council meetings. On December 19th, 2015, I graduated with honors from George Fox University with my BA in Management and Organizational Leadership. I am privileged to utilize my education and work-experience to lead an innovative team in managing multi-line insurance programs nationwide.
