Over the past 27 years as an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ, I have served diverse parishes as a settled minister, transitional minister, church strategist, and consultant. I have particular gifts for strengthening the spiritual, organizational and missional life of congregations. I love what I do!CHURCH STRATEGIST: When it is time for a church to make changes, the leaders and members know it, but often struggle to understand the root issues and effect faithful responses to them. I work with congregations to help them:• assess and harness their resources (human, financial, ministry, mission, spiritual) to build new and needed ministries• create a Ministry Plan for their church that is focused on the highest priorities and clear initiatives for church vitality• align staffing and governance to effectively implement their Ministry PlanIn my experience, this “all-church” process is life-giving to congregations as they grasp a clear and shared vision, and commit to their next steps. I also offer a highly effective model and process to guide the work of the ministry staff. “Growing an Adaptive Ministry Staff” is consistent with church polity, and is effective in establishing highest priorities, identifying resources needed to achieve them, and providing meaningful feedback from the development of ministry staff members. I have worked with small and large congregations from New Haven to San Francisco, and would welcome talking with you about yours! Formerly, I was a mechanical engineer at United Technologies Corp. I worked with a team that built the then largest wind turbines in the world and partnered with NASA for continued research.
