About Susan Gonzales
I lead the Marsh Houston office and serve on the leadership team for the US Energy & Power practice. The Houston office is on a journey to grow from a top 10 US office to a top 5 performer. As a leader, I focus on development of individuals and a healthy team culture. That foundation clears the road for an undistracted results-driven team. At our best, Marsh brings unparalled solutions to our clients from every part of MMC. At the same time, our size does not prohibit us from listening and customizing the relationship with a personal touch and feel. While Energy Casualty is where most of my 25 year career has been spent, I have experience across many industries and skills. Industries include manufacturing, entertainment, mining, chemical, staffing, transportation, construction and more. The skills I\'ve built began with energy commodity price forecasting and then shifted to insurance. Actuarial modeling/consulting was an easy shift from the trade floor. From there, I ventured into broking, underwriting on admitted and non-admitted paper, casualty portfolio management, and leadership of leaders. For stress relief I enjoy kick-boxing and recently took up rowing. Giving back to my local community has always been a passion. I believe in a robust public education system so I volunteer time in the classroom and raise funds for a Title I elementary school in HoustonISD. I\'m able to give back and be present with my children. You can also find me on a youth sports field throughout the year with varying sock, shorts, and sleeve tan lines!
