About Susan Charow Sherman
I\'ve spent my life trying to clear my head. I\'ve been in therapy 45 years. Now I have done it! and I\'m happy at last. I love the work I do. I feel honored to be able to be so intimately involved in peoples lives and problems, to be able to help them sort things out through a combination of my own life experience and resolved pain, my knowledge of medicine and medication, and a spiritual understanding I\'ve acquired through hard work which involves 1. seeing God in each other and believing in love, and 2. the need to experience all the sad, angry, painful feelings we\'ve been storing fully in order to be able to really feel the joy we deserve. I believe in the importance of education and have a great love of learning and of sharing that love with anyone who\'ll listen, and sometimes people who don\' t want to. I love and respect and am privileged to be the mother of my 2 sons, who make me more proud than anything else in my life. I love music, and art, and work to keep beautiful things around me. I miss my family, and hope some day to be back close to them. I love to run, and though I can only do 2 miles a day these days, it still feels so free. I\'ve been so lucky, all things considered.
Experience
Psychiatrist
Sep 2014 — Present · Fort Wayne, IN, US
My responsibilities here have varied. The first month I covered the new inpatient unit. Since November 1 I am working in the outpatient department seeing adults with all diagnoses, chronic psychiatric problems of many severities and coexisting medical/substance issues if present. I also visit agencies in the community to manage medications for residents.
