ABOUT SURYA PRAKASH PATALLAPALLI
In 2010, my dream to revolutionize India’s gaming industry kickstarted when I built the foundation of the country\'s first specialised gaming college — Backstage Pass Institute of Gaming and Technology.What began with fewer than 10 passionate students has since grown into a thriving community of over students and alumni, all deeply united by their passion for gaming.The idea was to build an ecosystem that acts as a connecting bridge between academic learning and the ever-changing demands of the industry which has also led to our collaboration with Kyodai Gameworks LLP - a gaming studio where dreams turn into reality.The goal is to keep the fire in the hearts of the students alive. We have been honoured with prestigious awards such as the Emerging Leader Award at the EduSpark Awards 2023, the Times Education Excellence Awards (2021–2024), and the ET Industry Achievers 2024–25.I have a diverse academic background that includes a Diploma in 3D Animation and Visual Effects, specialising in Character Animation from Vancouver Film School in the year 2003, and a Bachelor\'s Degree in Foreign Trade from Nizam College. Having worked in the visual effects and gaming industry before starting my journey has helped me navigate some really tough situations, while also making it easier to leverage the connections and knowledge I gained in the industry and utilize them effectively here at Backstage Pass. What constantly drives me is the belief that India’s aspiring game developers can make a mark on the global stage with the right mentorship and tools, which I have witnessed over the past decade with our students, now alumni. This helps strengthen my commitment to empower the next generation even more.Let’s connect to change the world, together- one game at a time.
