ABOUT SURAJ BABU T.

I\'ve been interested in how real-time data can change how systems think, react, and work ever since I made my first IoT prototype as an undergraduate. This curiosity evolved into a deep passion for data — not just collecting it, but turning it into insights that drive faster and smarter decision-making.Currently, I’m doing my Master’s in Information Technology and Management (Data Modeling & Management) at Illinois Tech, where I’m sharpening my expertise and knowledge in AI, data engineering, cloud computing, and big data analytics. Through coursework and projects, I’ve worked extensively with PySpark, R, SQL, and cloud-based data pipelines, building scalable systems to process and visualize large datasets.Before Illinois Tech, I worked as a Junior Project Associate at Rearly Tech Pvt. Ltd. where I implemented real-time data pipelines, optimized Python scripts, Power BI dashboards. My work improved latency and system reliability by over 30% and strengthened my foundation in cloud-based data engineering.Some of my recent accomplishments include- Designing a Power BI Energy & Building Insights Dashboard analyzing over 100K records for sustainability insights- Automating a Data Quality Lakehouse Pipeline using Apache Airflow, ensuring clean, analytics-ready data- Led a Healthcare Data Analysis Project – “Unveiling Health: Data Discovery Expedition”, where I performed end-to-end data analysis using Excel and SPSS, including data cleaning, exploratory analysis, and statistical modeling (logistic regression, ANOVA) to identify trends in patient readmission.I’m deeply passionate about solving problems and building intelligent, cloud-driven data systems —transforming complex, real-time data into meaningful intelligence that drives innovation and efficiency.When I’m not building data pipelines, dashboards, or working on side projects, I enjoy exploring emerging AI tools, data visualization design, and experimenting with new technologies in the data space. I’m currently taking Applied AI and Deep Learning and working on an exciting project that I’ll be sharing soon. I’m also very interested in attending data and AI-related events around Chicago to connect with professionals, exchange ideas, and stay inspired by the latest innovations.
