About Suraj Jhariya
I am a committed development professional with over 4.5 years of hands-on experience in rural development, public health, and social impact initiatives. Passionate about driving change at the grassroots level, I have worked extensively with underserved communities across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Gujarat. serve as the District Program Coordinator at Sightsavers India, where I lead rural eye health initiatives in Chhindwara, MP, including cataract screening, surgeries, and vision care access in collaboration with local health departments. From January to June 2025, I was selected for the Jan Suraaj Young Leadership Program (Fellowship), where I contributed to policy research, community engagement, and governance-focused projects aimed at enhancing public service delivery. I currently worked with Smile Train as a Service Provider Awareness and Field Worker, raising awareness about cleft lip and palate treatment services and supporting outreach efforts across Madhya Pradesh. Previously, I was the District Program Officer with PRAYATNA under the SEED Scheme (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment), working with NT/DNT communities on education, health, and livelihood initiatives. Earlier, I served as a Gandhi Fellow with the Piramal Foundation in Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh, focusing on strengthening education, health, and nutrition systems in tribal blocks. Academically, I am pursuing a Master’s in Rural Development (IGNOU) and hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), BA in Geography, Economics, and Political Science, a Diploma in Computer Applications, and an ITI in Broadband Technology. Driven by a deep interest in policy-making, governance, and inclusive development, I aspire to design and implement impactful, scalable programs that create lasting change for marginalized communities.
