ABOUT SURABHI VEENAPANI

While you focus on the “what” and the “why,” let me help figure out the “how.”With 9 years of experience as a Product Operations-slash-Program Manager at (or with) companies like DIRECTV (formerly part of AT & T), Netflix, and Microsoft, I’ve leaned a key lesson: it takes more than brilliant vision or cutting-edge technology to create successful products. The teams and how they execute matters just as much.Because of this, I have a set of core principles that I carry with me into every role:1) “Busy” is not a virtue. Efficiency is a core value of mine in and out of the office, and I am a strong proponent of the “work smarter, not harder” ethos.2) Unclear is fine, unsupportive is NOT. Whether it’s your organization’s broader goals, or your teams’ internal processes, it’s okay if it’s not perfectly ironed out. But give me the right context, trust me to exercise my judgement, and as a team we help figure out how to evaluate, nurture and scale. 3) Kindness above everything. Nothing is quite as undervalued (and free) in the workplace like just…being nice. Even the best performers will fail sometimes — a culture of fear and condemnation will make sure of it, but a culture of trust and safety will help weather the storm. So please, be nice :)
