ABOUT SUPREENA SEKHON

Based in Calgary, Supreena provides critical insight of the government policy cycle, legislative and regulatory structure, operations and decision-making processes, informed by her 15 years of experience in the public and private sectors.Supreena is currently the Director, Policy & Engagement at Invest Alberta where she is responsible for leading government relations, market intelligence and research, corporate reporting, data analysis and ESG. Prior to joining Invest Alberta, Supreena was a Government Relations Consultant with Crestview Strategy where she advised, supported and represented companies and high-profile industries to elected officials and key stakeholders. Supreena was also the Manager of Indo-Pacific and Africa with the Alberta Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Innovation. Here Supreena led a team to advance and develop Alberta’s international interests and relationships, as well as support trade promotion and investment attraction in targeted markets in the Indo-Pacific and Africa regions. She has travelled extensively through the US, Latin America, Europe and Asia, and has had the opportunity to study and work in Mexico, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea. Supreena began her career working in the Minister’s Office of Children and Youth Services before transitioning to the civil service. She has worked on several complex files including promoting Alberta’s international efforts in investment attraction, trade, and advocacy, contributing to the development of social policies that improve Indigenous women’s economic security, and supporting Alberta’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.Supreena has a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alberta.
