Lead in R&D of phagotrophic algal process for wastewater sludge treatment with organic carbon capture (US patents: & 97•••42B2). • Provide technical support to product, project and operation managers in Municipal and Industrial Division: 1. Conduct laboratory experiments to test clients’ sample treatability, design treatment process and troubleshoot full-scale process issues. Use SUMO/BioWin software to simulate plant-wide wastewater treatment processes. Prepare proposals, process calculations and equipment layouts to support sales team. Present lab results, data analysis and process adjustment recommendations to clients. Summarize laboratory and full-scale data into research/conference papers. Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) 6.1. Monitor 15 MBR plants operations online. Analyze MBR operating data and review flux design guidelines. Study fouling mechanisms. Assist with MBR piloting design and evaluation. Solids Processing and Disposal 7.1. Sludge thickening: gravity, mechanical and membrane thickening processes. Aerobic digestion (3-4% solids): EPA Class B biosolids. pH, DO and NH3 control. Anaerobic Digestion: process microbiology, mixing and foaming. Sidestream Treatment Processes 8.1. Post aerobic digestion (PAD): ammonia removal and additional VS reduction in anaerobically digested sludge. Controlled struvite precipitation: nitrogen and phosphorus removal in anaerobically digested sludge and scaling mitigation in sludge pumping and centrifugal dewatering. Anammox: energy-saving ammonia removal in centrate.
