About Sunita Darbe
I am a generalist working at the intersection of sustainability, science, and technology development, scale-up and commercialization at an international biotechnology company manufacturing innovative materials through industrial fermentation. I enjoy rolling up my sleeves and diving into whatever my team needs. I am a fast, self-directed learner, with experience in clean energy, protein material development and corporate sustainability. As a people-person, I enjoy engaging in consultative processes to find consensus-based solutions among stakeholders. At Spiber, I work as the CSO’s deputy handling environmental sustainability as well as people and project management. As the in-house subject matter expert on life cycle assessment and greenhouse gas accounting, I have co-authored three ISO 14044-compliant critically reviewed comparative LCA reports and led emissions accounting for four years. In the past, I have led biodegradation testing. Through-lines of my career include communicating technical and sustainability-related concepts to a variety of audiences from academic publications to marketing materials for the general public.
