About Sunil Kumar Singh

I have experience in project management related to livelihood, education, health, skill development, financial inclusion and disaster management domain by supporting in team building, strategic partnership with govt and donor agencies, M&E, capacity building, state level strategic planning, implementation and reporting and presentation to the client. I was associated with MicroSave for providing state level technical support in Pathway of Enhancing Financial Inclusion (PEFI), a project to support financial inclusion in Aspiration District Programme (ADP) of Niti Ayog. My association with Sutra Consulting Pvt Ltd provided me an opportunity to work with divers projects and clients such as process monitoring of BRLPS/SRLM, impact study of world bank supported Bihar Panchayat Strengthening project, DLI verification of WB supported teachers effectiveness project, PMU at WDC for social and economic empowerment of women, MEL & D of watershed projects etc. During my association with APMAS, I was instrumental in formation and capacity building of three tier community organizations in 45 ULBs of Bihar under NULM and system strengthening of CLFs formed by BRLPS. It was great to work with Reach India by designing training modules, training delivery on reproductive health of women and behavirioual change communication (BCC) under various projects in collaboration with WDC, OXFAM, Packard Foundation. Srei Sahaj and CGC, CAPART used to be a very good place to execute skill development training on various trades in collaboration with Mahadalit Mission, NSDC, CAPART. Village Planning Exercise (VPE) supported by UNICEF in Vaishali district of Bihar was one of the successful interventions where villagers planned activities related to 16 indicators of health and worked with Government of Bihar for outreach of medical facilities in each village of block. My long association with RGVN provided me space to provide technical support in growth and development of PAN India NGOs for taking up various livelihood activities and micro enterprise by capacitating community institutions such as SHG and FPO with support from NABARD. At present I am a free lance consultant but interested to join a reputed organization with responsibilities of project management, strategic partnership with govt/donor agencies and future growth and expansion of activities in Bihar. I am passionate to work in challenging assignments which requires hard labour, out of box thinking and multi tasking. I am a health freak and love to spend time with villagers in remote and rural areas of Bihar.

   The consultancy contract involves field visit to project districts of Jharkhand Tribal Development Society (JTDS) for collection of quality data by interviewing DPM and FGD with women SHG, Youth Group and Gram Sabha Project Execution Committee (GSPEC). It was interesting to find out how ST and PVTG women of the Jharkhand Tribal Livelihood and Empowerment project (JTELP) have been augmenting income to the family as well to the community by scaling up the existing traditional activities such as poultry, pig and goat rearing with vegetable cultivation. Further they have been linked with the JSLPS for bank linkage and capacity building support. Similarly the youth group formed by the JTDS have been taking various livelihood activities from the seed fund and importantly the YGs are motivating other youth for taking up various IGPs. Such efforts of YG has helped to reduce outward migration up to great extent. However the sustainability of the project after fund support of IFAD seems to be one of the issues which was highlighted in the qualitative report. The report consist of verbatim of villagers focused on capacitating GSPEC for managing village development fund, providing backward and forward linkages and developing strategic partnership with government and private players.
