I work in the Office of Public Health Science (OPHS), in the Risk Assessment and Analytics Staff (RAAS) in Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). I conduct scientific risk assessments and develop new analytic methods for assessing risks of biological and chemical hazards in meat, poultry and egg products that inform regulatory management options in support of the Agency\'s food safety mission.Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities:• Planning, technical and scientific development, and direction of large scale, complex risk assessments to evaluate the risks of known and emerging hazards on meat, poultry, or egg products.• Develop and/or oversee the preparation of risk assessment, risk mitigation strategies evaluated, the options or recommendations presented for risk managers and risk communication.• Relating the expanding and changing scientific issues in microbial pathogens and chemical residues to program initiatives, as related to microbial and/or chemical risk analysis.• Participate in symposia, workshops, and colloquia involving food safety risk analysis issues. Responsible for presenting and discussing varying facets of the food safety risk analysis process.• Represent FSIS and/or USDA at federal, state, industry, or academic conferences and meetings. Prepare papers, abstracts and technical manuscripts for publication in professional, trade, and scientific journals.• Manage the design of surveys, development of probabilistic microbial and/or chemical risk assessments models, and the building of computer models and programs.
