ABOUT SUNG MUN JUNG

Dr. Sung Mun Jung received his 6 year Bachelor degree in 1994 and 2 years Master of Science degree in 1998 from the School of Oriental Medicine, Kyung Hee University in Seoul, Korea. He graduated from Kyung Hee University in 2003 with Doctor of Philosophy from the Graduated School of East-West Medicine in Seoul, Korea. He completed a post-doctorate research Fellowship from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine, Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Philadelphia (PA, USA) and was mentored by both Professor Schumacher, MD and Professor Pessler, MD. Dr. Jung has been in clinical practice for more than 20 years in both Korea and the U.S with special interests in Clinical Herbal Pharmacology and Acupunctures. He specializes in weight loss, immune disorders, arthritis, allergy disease, and the mechanism of inflammation resolution. He also has diverse basic and clinical research experiences in various settings to analyze the therapeutic efficacy of traditional medicine and to prove its value through scientific inquiry and methodology. Dr. Jung‘s key research interests are the relationship of temperament, pathological tendency, drug response, and bio-psychosocial trait and disease vulnerability based on Sasang constitutional medicine in relation to endocrinology; performing clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Herbal Mixtures and Acupuncture; and the mechanism of inflammation and inflammation resolution that can lead to development of new anti-inflammatory drugs. Dr. Jung combines the unique traditional Korean medicine, Saam Acupuncture Technique, Sasang Constitutional Medicine, and clinical applications to Western society. He also practices Integrated Medicine which combines the strong points of both Oriental and Western medicine.
