Google Compute Engine, Virtual Storage Team Storage Optimized VM Family Z3 (Apr 2023-Present) The Z3 machine series offers up to 176 vCPUs and 8GB of memory per vCPU on the Intel Sapphire Rapids CPU platform. Z3 VMs are aligned with the underlying NUMA architecture. 1st Class Windows OS Support (June 2022-Mar 2023) Windows Virtual Machines need to be enlightened with better NVMe device drivers support. I improved the performance on VM product shapes that use local SSD and windows OS, through increasing our NVMe spec compliance and test coverage. Cross Die RAID Qualification (Dec 2021-May 2022) Read I/O errors on the existing local SSD are suboptimal, so we introduced this new feature Cross Die RAID. I extracted and exported RAID-related metrics to periodically monitor the performance, built and troubleshooted integration E2E tests, to ensure this new feature meets the advertised Local SSD performance SLOs.
