About Sumit Prasad

Sumit has about a decade of experience in the areas of climate change and sustainability. He is presently working with CEEW where he leads the Climate Negotiations Team and COP processes. His roles and responsibilities revolves around - research, engagement and leadership: Assessed countries on their past performance, as well as ambition and progress towards the implementation of key climate agreements.(): Research on various provisions (flexibilities) of the ETF. Nominated as a Roaster group of experts to by Government of India: Developed the methodologies to support capacity building initiatives. Partnered with and civil societies entities towards leading this research,(): Research on MRV framework for India. Authored MRV chapter in fourth, third and second Biennial Update Report of India: Exploring governance structures which are needed to operationalize Loss and Damage framework and analysing effective mechanisms for financing Loss and Damage in vulnerable countries: Tracking negotiations and informing government on critical issues surrounding transparency, loss and damage, climate finance and global stocktake: Government of India, Kingdom of Cambodia, COP Presidencies, (CGE), OECD, UNDP, and funders: Leading the team end-to-end, identifying key areas of research, responsible for deliverables and work plans, exploring funds and proposal development: Plan/execute COP strategies across institution. Be the face of the organisation at COP and other conferences.Sumit possesses a great interest in tracking and resolving complex issues surrounding climate negotiations. He believes that although the climate problem requires collective action, individual actions can make a big difference.
