During the Maha Kumbh 2025, I conducted an in-depth investigation into the microbial load and water quality of the Ganges River by analyzing both water and sediment samples. This study involved coliform enumeration and detailed physicochemical profiling to assess pollution levels and identify environmental stressors. I utilized a range of techniques including membrane filtration, Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST), and PCR-based detection of Antibiotic Resistance Genes (ARGs) to evaluate microbial contamination and resistance patterns.
