ABOUT SUMEDHA WEERASURIYA

I am a highly self-motivated, mechanical engineering graduate. My passion for the diverse disciplines of science stem from my steadfast belief and faith in human potential. That is, I believe if we, as humans, possess the mental capacity to perceive a certain outcome, we have the intellect and ability to make it a reality. During my years as an undergraduate student, I have time and again approached challenging concepts and theories (both engineering and non-engineering) with this mentality. A synthesis of the knowledge I gathered (Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Dynamics, Material Selection, CAD Modeling and Simulation) were put to use in my most recent work at the Advanced Materials Processing laboratory (Details of the nano-fabrication technology developed can be found under my work experience section). I foresee a future where innovative, cross-disciplinary thinking will be of utmost importance; it is how we as a species will combat climate change, work to eradicate the deadliest of diseases and even colonize the distant planets. For these reasons, my areas of interest include but are not limited to, renewable energy, bionics/bio-mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering.[ Authorized to work in the US, EAD Card ]
