2020 CFMA Producer of the Year nominee (Refuge) and BILLBOARD charting Chris McKhool is a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal recipient for his work creating community through music. McKhool produces, composes, and plays violin with Sultans of String, whose CDs have made the New York Times Hit List, as well as hitting #1 in the International/World Canadian community radio charts, earning three JUNO Award nominations and three Canadian Folk Music Awards out of ten nominations. He has composed, recorded, and performed with diverse artists including Béla Fleck, Nikki Yanofsky, Jesse Cook, Crystal Shawanda, Paddy Moloney and the Chieftains, Alex Cuba, Richard Bona, Ruben Blades, and Yasmin Levy.In his role as producer, McKhool was nominated for Producer of the Year in the 2020 and 2018 CFMAs, and won Producer of the Year for the 2020 Independent Music Awards along with co-producer John \'Beetle\' Bailey (2020 JUNO Award winning engineer). With his new release REFUGE, McKhool travelled from the Six Nations reserve to NYC, Istanbul, and beyond to craft the sound of an epic culture-spanning album.
