About Sully Moreno

I am a multilingual community engagement and communications professional dedicated to centering the perspectives of Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) in everything I do. My life’s purpose is to use any power or influence I wield to shift traditional power structures and undo white dominant culture. After accumulating years of professional and freelance experience in this field, I started Culture Shift Consulting (https://cultureshiftconsult.com/) in 2021 to help organizations create community-centric strategies, programs, and communications that make an impact on our community. I believe in focusing on the communities furthest from justice, in sharing power with community members, and in approaching all work through the lens of racial justice, anticolonialism, and intersectionality. As a person of color, I know that our communities’ ability to create solutions that will help us thrive is boundless, and I’ve honed the skill of respectfully and effectively engaging community members to create these solutions together. Later, I pivoted into social issues communication, working on issues ranging from climate change to accessible transportation to housing justice. These experiences have taught me that whether we’re selling a product or addressing inequities in our systems, culture matters. Success comes from listening to the people we are serving. My happy place is enjoying the beautiful mountains and lakes of the Pacific Northwest. I blend my passion for equity with the outdoors and environment by volunteering with Latino Outdoors, serving as a Board Chair at Sustainable Seattle, and as Board member at Washington Trails Association.

Through Culture Shift Consulting, I offer community-centric strategic planning, program development, and communications services that meet organizational goals and respond to the needs of community members.Whether the issue is healthcare access or environmental health or economic empowerment, examining how we collaborate with the communities most impacted, how we share power, and how we make decisions are essential to successful community partnerships. When we transform the ways organizations work with community members, we can solve even the most deeply entrenched social problems and contribute towards a more just, equitable community.
