NMSN is the first and only social enterprise to advocate for military spouse professionals focusing on both employment and entrepreneurship. We continue to identify shifting institutional needs and priorities in a systematic way to forecast solutions.In its 10th year connecting military spouses, organizations, and policymakers worldwide, our community is now comprised of 20K+. We continue to place ADVOCACY, INNOVATIVE PROGRAMMING, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, and NETWORKING at the forefront of our mission.SELECT ACCOMPLISHMENTS:RESEARCH AND LEGISLATIVE POLICY: Incorporate research and ongoing initiatives to generate white papers recommending ways to eliminate obstacles to military spouse entrepreneurship and supporting employment portability, resulting in proposed legislation.ADVOCACY: Initiated annual Day of Advocacy Congressional event and in-depth training, bringing spouses and legislators together in person and virtually to share stories and advocate for changes to remove barriers to military spouse employment and entrepreneurship.CROSS-AGENCY PARTNERSHIP BUILDING: Create and facilitate cross-sector collaboration with government agencies, policymakers, corporations, VSOs/MSOs, media, and other stakeholders around employment for American spouses working overseas who fall under Status of Forces or Chief of Mission.PUBLIC SPEAKING: Engage in executive-level hiring initiatives, including Obama White House Roundtable with Government Agency Executives, inaugural Bush Institute Veteran’s Summit, Congressional Military Family Caucus Annual Military Spouse Career Summit, Disney Veteran’s Employment Summit, Points of Light Annual Conference, Community Blueprint Initiative, and other federal, corporate, and nonprofit enterprises.OUTREACH AND EDUCATION: Plan and execute networking events, hold annual seminar, and produce digital magazine to engage community.
