   Global Empowerment Mission is a disaster response 501c3 based in Miami, Florida, founded by Michael Capponi. During my tenure with GEM, I assisted in organizing a $50M dollar humanitarian relief project for the people of Puerto Rico that consisted of 52 loaded planes and over 200 cargo shipping containers to the islands including USVI with distribution centers set up in all 78 municipalities in PR. GEM has provided relief aid in over 355 missions, in 57 different countries and all 50 states. In the past 7 yrs since I began with GEM, I increased our inkind donations from $6 Million a year to well over $200M a yr. We have re-built over 116 homes and 3 schools in The Bahamas alone, following Hurricane Dorian. GEM arrived in Poland 24 hours after the first bombs went off in Ukraine. In very quick succession, we acquired the assets that we needed to handle full scale operations and logistics. We went into a 5 yr lease with our warehouse in Poland and Ukraine and I began receiving and coordinating 100\'s of containers of aid from around the globe in which we were able to distribute. We are currently the largest NGO in Ukraine with the most amount of aid distributed. We have deployed to Turkey, Syria, Morocco, Egypt, Israel, Gaza, Haiti, Pakistan, Sudan, Greece, South and Central America, The Caribbean, Maui and Israel and set up 10 warehouses throughout the world. GEM\'s team deploys within 24 hours following a disaster, arriving with aid, gift cards and temporary and permanent housing solutions. Phase 2 consists of rebuilding schools, apartment buildings and hospitals, re-opening manufacturing plants. GEM believes in providing the locals with the tools and economic solutions needed to further its economy. 97% of all monies donated to GEM goes directly into the hands of the people and have earned a 100% rating on Charity Navigator. We strive to provide the most amount of aid, to the most people, in the shortest amount of time with the least amount of cost to our donors.
