After 16 years of education and 30 years of work, I am still learning how to work and working to learn. I understood quite early that work-life balance matters more than work-work balance. Understanding it was easy. Practicing it is a daily negotiation.I am not afraid of looking foolish and not scared of making mistakes. That reckless optimism probably explains how I ended up founding and directing a few businesses in the UK and India. Trying to be a perfectionist while knowing that perfection is a myth is a special kind of workout for the mind.I never wanted to be the niftiest person in the room. I would much rather be surrounded by people who outshine me. If they are that good, I will happily try to recruit them. For me, success is building rooms where others grow faster than I do.Ultimate happiness is making others happy. But I have learned that it works best when I am happy too. If that sounds like a paradox, I prefer to call it balance.
