ABOUT SUDHA JAYARAMAN
I am a practicing double boarded surgeon and ICU physician with a background in public health with decades of experience in clinical care, health systems, implementation science, clinical research, global health and innovation. After a successful career in academia I moved to industry in 2025 to learn how to scale transformational AI technologies and improve healthcare worldwide. Aside from a diverse clinical practice, my academic work has included medication safety, quality improvement and surgical checklist implementation. I have worked globally on trauma and emergency systems capacity building in Rwanda with funding from diverse sources (NIH, Rotary).I was most recently Professor at the University of Utah where I directed the Center for Global Surgery with collaborations in six countries and fostered research with the Center for Medical Innovation. I created a global health innovation and technology track in the graduate education programs. I mentored teams on a variety of medical devices. I have been NIH funded for nearly a decade and have led a multi-country and cross-functional team that developed and implemented a novel digital health platform for emergency communication and coordination across the capital city of Kigali, Rwanda, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Over my career, I have authored >110 publications and book chapters, given over 200 lectures and mentored people across professions, disciplines, institutions and countries. Today I\'m the Medical Director for Clinical Strategy and Research at Suki, one of the top ambient AI companies in the US. I\'m also adjunct faculty in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah. I\'m currently in private practice in Virginia and finishing the work on digital health platform implementation in Rwanda while contributing to creating the WHO\'s standards on emergency medical dispatch systems.
