I\'ve been with Neuland Laboratories for twenty years, the last two decades as Vice Chairman and CEO. We\'re a founding family business that manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients the chemistry behind generic and patented drugs used across 80 countries.The work is highly regulated. Pharmaceutical manufacturing operates under standards similar to aerospace: precision is required, not optional. Every batch must meet exact specifications. There\'s no margin for error, which means the real work is building systems and teams reliable enough to meet that standard consistently.I came to this through mechanical engineering, then an MBA from Notre Dame in corporate finance and operations. Six Sigma training reinforced what I\'d already suspected: excellence isn\'t about perfection, it\'s about building processes that catch problems early.I\'m naturally introverted, which has been an advantage in this role. It\'s made me a better observer of how systems break down, where teams need support, and what actually drives sustainable outcomes versus what just looks good in presentations. I\'ve learned more about leadership from distance running than from most frameworks: consistency matters more than intensity, and the most important competition is internal.My operating belief is simple: organisations don\'t compete, people do. So I\'ve focused on creating conditions where skilled people can do meaningful work without unnecessary interference. Trust over supervision. Standards over metrics. Long-term thinking over short-term optimisation.In pharmaceuticals, competitive advantage comes from reliability.
