Chronic and incurable diseases affect approximately 133 million Americans, representing about 40% of the total population of the country. Common diseases like cancer, diabetes, stroke, mental illness etc. are responsible for $1.3 trillion lost economic output annually. Can we fight back to improve the situation? Can we strengthen our economy through a healthier and efficient nation? I am a synthetic organic chemist. I am passionate about it as it provides me a broad platform and scope to discover drugs for many common and uncommon diseases.
