As an engineer on one of the three pillars of Azure Core—Compute, Networking, and Storage—I design and implement features that operate at an immense scale, reaching every single computer in every Azure data center. Every day, I work on the control plane and data plane of Software-Defined Networking (SDN), learning how we impact all Azure customers, as every packet flowing through Azure depends on the reliability and efficiency of our product. This responsibility reminds me of the critical importance of uptime; we cannot afford outages, and our ability to quickly triage, mitigate, and resolve issues is essential to keeping our promises to customers. Developing within a DevOps model and focusing on quality, scale, and performance has taught me to be both deliberate and adaptable in my coding decisions. Currently, I’m working on Azure’s Private Endpoints, a core service that enables secure, high-performance connections over Microsoft’s backbone network, significantly reducing traffic delays and enhancing customer experiences across the board.
