PROFILE: I\'m an experienced software engineer (over 25 years, spanning many household names). I\'m an experienced middle and senior-level manager at award-winning firms. I\'m an experienced recruiting manager. I\'m an international conference speaker and trainer. I\'m a published author. I\'m a volunteer Visiting Industrialist at a UK university. I\'ve been a business analyst. I\'ve been a project manager. I\'ve run software test / QA teams. I\'ve done just about every role you can hold in an engineering department over the years, including running one. I have endorsements for more skills than LinkedIn\'s limit of 50. As a developer, I regularly use many programming languages. I\'m best known as a member of the PHP community. I enjoy working with C and NodeJS too. I prefer developing software for Linux servers, and Linux and OS X terminals. I\'ve been involved in open-source software since 1994, and recent examples include Hubflow (http://datasift.github.io/gitflow/) and Storyplayer (http://datasift.github.io/storyplayer). Windows (using it or developing for it) isn\'t really for me. Outside work, I\'m a qualified teacher of adults, and an instructor in Tai Chi. I do a lot of photography. I love writing and playing music.
