ABOUT STUART W. DIXON
I was born into business and problem-solving.My father spent nearly three decades as a commercial fisherman, while my mother built her career in education. In 2002, our family relocated from Port Alberni to Nanoose Bay, where my parents founded a contracting business. Growing up inside that environment shaped how I think about work: results matter, relationships matter, and you earn credibility by doing the work. After graduating as Class Valedictorian from Ballenas Secondary, I pursued Geography at Vancouver Island University before stepping into the family business. In 2012, I left Vancouver Island to work for the Federal Government in Ottawa, then relocated to Calgary to complete my undergraduate studies in Geographic Information Systems at SAIT Polytechnic, graduating in 2013.I spent the next six years working across forestry, natural resources, and environmental services before returning to Nanaimo to complete a Master of Business Administration at Vancouver Island University, specializing in Finance (2018).My banking career began with TD in 2017 and progressed rapidly into commercial and agricultural finance. By 2019, I was serving clients across British Columbia as a Commercial Analyst, and in 2021 returned to Vancouver Island as a Commercial Account Manager, supporting business owners with complex financing, growth planning, and risk management. In 2023, I made a deliberate decision to step away from banking and to take on hands-on economic development in the Indigenous Sector. Most recently, I served with Metis Nation BC and Huu-ay-aht First Nations, where I supported economic development, tourism, procurement modernization, partnerships, land management, natural resource planning and capacity-building initiatives—working at the intersection of governance, capital projects, and community-driven growth.Today, I am excited to be building what’s next as Director of Business Development & Strategy with Securco Services and CMJ Equipment across Vancouver Island, focused on security systems and gas detection solutions for a myriad of mid-market clients and prospects.I bring a pragmatic, analytical, and relationship-driven approach to business—grounded in real operations, disciplined financial thinking, and a bias toward execution.Core strengths include:Economic Development • Business Development • Commercial Finance • Risk & Financial Analysis • Negotiation • Strategic Planning • Project Management • Public & Technical Writing • GISI’m energized by complex problems, meaningful work, and building durable value—on the Island and beyond.
