About Stuart Andreason

I am Executive Director at the Burning Glass Institute, where I lead our programs portfolio. This includes developing and conducting state of the art research and engagement across the country. We aim to connect people to meaningful work and help government, organizations and workers navigate the future of work. I previously led and founded the Center for Workforce and Economic Opportunity at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. The Center acts as a bridge between research and the real world. We aim to highlight changes in the economy and how those changes drive what skills workers and businesses need to be successful as well as policies and programs that help people succeed in the labor market. We do this work because when workers can find and are prepared for quality jobs and businesses are productive the economy can grow.I earned my Ph.D. at University of Pennsylvania. I also earned a Certificate in Urban Studies and a Certificate in Advanced Education Studies at Penn. I am a Fellow of the Penn Institute for Urban Research. I was a fellow of the Institute for Education Sciences and the Lincoln Institute. My work at Penn included research on different economic development strategies ranging from investment in education to classic economic development strategies. I also worked on a project with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development on indicators of sustainable urban development. I am also actively involved in teaching urban planning and urban studies.Specialties- The impact of educational investment on local economic development and labor markets- Workforce Development- Human Capital Strategies- Research on urban issues relating to community and economic development and civic engagement- Enterprise Zones - Local and State Business Investment Programs
