ABOUT STUART WRAY
I am passionate about ensuring the health and safety of workers in remote and challenging environments. I have a strong background in workplace safety, emergency response team (ERT) coordination, and risk management, and I hold a Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from the British Columbia Insititute of Technology. I am currently the Superintendent of Health and Safety at Burgundy Diamond Mines, one of the largest and most innovative diamond producers in Canada. As the Superintendent of Health and Safety, I manage a team of risk and safety advisors, ERT coordinators, and physician assistants, overseeing the health and safety programs and policies for a mine that employs 1,100 workers. I am responsible for developing and implementing safety strategies, conducting audits and inspections, facilitating training and awareness sessions, and leading incident investigations and root cause analysis. I also coordinate the ERT operations, ensuring that the team is well-equipped and prepared to handle any emergencies or hazards that may arise. I have successfully improved the safety culture and performance of the mine, reducing the frequency and severity of injuries and accidents, and enhancing the well-being and morale of the workers.
