For the first time in history, pharmaceutical costs exceed medical costs in the Connecticut workers compensation system. Viable alternatives to drugs must be used to manage costs. Acupuncture has a long history of reducing pharmaceutical costs through the biochemical actions of acupuncture which dramatically enhance the body\'s internal capacity to reduce inflammation, pain and accelerate tissue repair. I was appointed to the Medical Advisory Committee to cooperate with medical colleagues in Connecticut to reduce pharmaceutical costs within the workers compensation system
