Civilian scientist with twenty-four years of forensic experience with the New Hampshire State Police Forensic Laboratory in Concord, New Hampshire, an ANAB ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. Currently serving as the Supervisor of the Pattern Evidence Unit (Friction Ridge, Firearms/Toolmark, Footwear/Tire disciplines). Technical Manager for the lab’s Crime Scene Services. Certified by the International Association for Identification (IAI) as a Certified Latent Print Examiner (CLPE). Additionally, certified by the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) in the areas of Firearms Examination, Tool Mark Examination and Gunshot Residue/Distance Determination. Currently serving as Chair of the AFTE Certification Program. Areas of expertise include: Latent Impressions (finger, palm and foot friction ridge skin), Patent Blood Impression Enhancement, Firearms Testing and Evaluation, Bullet and Cartridge Case/ Shotshell Comparisons, Toolmark Examination and Comparisons, Shooting Scene Reconstruction, Powder and Primer Gunshot Residue, Range of Shooting Distance Determination, Obliterated Serial Number Recovery, Physical/ Fracture Match comparisons, Indented Writing Restoration and Questionable Pattern Interpretation. Has worked over 3500 cases in career. Specialties: Performs both technical and administrative reviews of forensic case files, associated work product, protocols and procedures, and testimony transcripts. Conducts laboratory or unit specific assessments and audits, technical training, conflict resolution, as well as, expert witness critique and trial prep. Performs physical evidence examinations and re-examinations in various specialized disciplines for both government agencies and private parties.
