My specialism is helping shape start-ups and scale-ups from a product, technology, infrastructure and operational standpoint. As an accomplished technology executive I see it as my role to not only define strategy, but ensure that it is perfectly articulated to the entire business. I firmly believe that culture in organisations is top-down so I always seek to embody the principles that I desire from everyone. I make great effort to understand problem-spaces fully rather than lazily adhering to boiler-plate best-practice suggestions. For example, as a CTO I\'ve worked in first-line support as a means of understanding it more fully. I have no fear of getting my hands dirty if it leads me to a richer understanding (and therefore a better solution).I\'m an agile evangelist and have worked with many different technology stacks. I\'m far more familiar with the AWS toolkit than GCP or Azure however. I spent 13 years as a full-stack PHP software engineer delivering global solutions for some of the most known brands before stepping away from hands-on development to focus on leadership roles (CTO of a Ruby on Rails B2B SaaS business). Humility, transparency and accountability are the three values I try to live by. I expect my teams to hold me to a high standard so I can best support them in delivering value and developing their careers.
