My most recent work experience was at Picnic Works as a software engineer. At Picnic Works I was involved in all steps of the software development cycle, from planning and design to testing and deployment. I spearheaded the development of an web application in React, Node.js and PostgreSQL, utilizing not only my technical skills but also my communication skills by working closely with the product and design teams to define product requirements and solve user experience issues. I also wrote and deployed new features and bug fixes to existing applications in production, ensuring any code changes adhered to company coding standards and met test coverage requirements.Something that I love about software development is its direct applicability to working across different fields and industries. My interest in software development began with using programming as a tool for engaging storytelling. I have worked as a Creative Coding Research Assistant at the Lab for Narrative Technologies and Spatial Installations where I prototyped VR experiences of the world\'s water pollution and of heritage sites around the UAE. My work at the Dhakira Center for Heritage Studies allowed me to design and develop web experiences with the aim of making the department\'s archival work accessible to the public in an engaging format.
