Steven R. Thai is a senior communications executive specializing in crisis management, issues navigation, and reputation resilience for global, high-visibility organizations. He currently serves as Head of Global Crisis Communications & Reputation Management at Palo Alto Networks, where he leads the company’s worldwide strategy to protect trust, guide executive decision-making, and build the frameworks that keep a leading cybersecurity brand grounded in moments of pressure and change.Steven also serves as Vice Chair and Secretary of the Issue Management Council, helping advance best practices in crisis, issues, and reputation management across industries.Prior to Palo Alto Networks, Steven led the Global Crisis & Issues Communications Center of Excellence at Cargill, supporting operations in more than 70 countries and helping the company navigate supply chain disruptions, geopolitical risk, and highly visible reputational challenges.Earlier in his career, Steven held key communications leadership roles at Uponor North America and Deloitte, where he supported the U.S. and Global CMO, led PR strategy for Deloitte Private and Deloitte Insights, and guided high-priority communications initiatives across major business lines.Steven’s professional foundation began in public service, where he served in the Obama Administration as a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Energy. Before that, he worked with Congressman Keith Ellison, supporting both his campaign and congressional office in Washington, D.C. This early experience shaped his people-first leadership style and his belief that reputation is ultimately built on trust, clarity, and how organizations show up under pressure.He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Communication Studies, from Luther College, and an MBA in Marketing Leadership from Hamline University.Based in Minneapolis, Steven has been teaching Power Vinyasa Yoga and Yoga Sculpt since 2017. He is deeply committed to the connection between yoga philosophy and everyday life—professionally and personally—and brings that grounding, intentionality, and presence into every space he leads. Steven also competes in Stonewall Sports bocce and enjoys exploring new restaurants with his husband, Patrick, their four children, and their Siberian Husky, Arya.
