ABOUT STEVEN RAMAGE
Executive Advisor - Digital Geography, Space Strategy & National ResilienceWith over 30 years of experience across the geospatial and space sectors, I bridge the gap between technical Earth intelligence and global policy delivery. My career has been defined by leadership roles at the most influential organisations in the sector, including Ordnance Survey (OS), the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), and the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS). As well as my own advisory firm (Réseau Consulting) since 2023.From the foundations of mapping in the mid-90s to the current era of \"planetary intelligence,\" I have advised the United Nations, the World Bank, NASA, and other government entities on how to leverage location data as a strategic asset. Since 2019, I have served as an advisor to the World Economic Forum (WEF), focusing on how the fusion of Earth observations and AI including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and LLMs can address global risks like climate instability and supply chain fragility. As a former owner and director at 1Spatial and a previously UK government security cleared professional, I understand the rigours of the dual use environment. I specialise in helping public sector end users navigate the complexities of data quality, open standards, and the transition to resilient, AI-native infrastructures. My current focus is on Human Interoperability, an approach I am developing to move beyond technical standards and address the cultural and institutional alignment required to make data truly actionable for policy makers. I also facilitate a network of Associates, a vibrant community of women practitioners from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, the Pacific, and South America, ensuring that their perspectives are at the heart of inclusive innovation while we connect with purpose: Specialisms- Digital geography and Earth intelligence strategy- Dual use resilience and national security data frameworks- Institutional alignment with CEOS, OGC and UN-GGIM standards and frameworks- Human Interoperability and cross-departmental data governance- Navigating software, solutions, and vendors for Digital Public GoodI am currently offering a limited number of 90-minute free advisory sessions for public sector end users and non-profits looking to reset their geospatial (including EO) roadmap for 2026 and beyond. Please message me to discuss how we can collaborate or to receive the FAQs.
