About Steven McKabney
I am an aspiring Systems Engineer currently pursuing a Bachelor\'s degree in Industrial Engineering (Systems focus) at Iowa State University. I have always been captivated by the intricate planning, design, and evaluation that drives development of complex systems; anything from Rail Transportation Networks to the Space Shuttle. I also have a strong interest in Aeronautics, R&D, and Test Engineering, especially surrounding the aspects of prototyping and experimentation.My long-term goal is to become an Aeronautical Systems Engineer, which would allow me to apply my passion for aeronautical engineering with the systemic integration of technical components into high-performance systems. I plan to intern at an aerospace engineering firm to deepen my technical expertise and make meaningful contributions to cutting-edge projects.

Ultra-sonic 3D printing research; printing & subsequent analysis + evaluation of solid-state samples under Dr. Bin Li. Ultra-sonic 3D manufacturing sees the implementation of high frequency ultrasonic waves, applied to thin sheet metal stock which is fed (or printed) onto steel samples. The normal pressure and lateral motion causes localized plastic deformation at the interface between the metal sheets, producing metallurgical bonding with minimal heat.
