About Steven Nelson

I grew up in the Prairiewood neighborhood of Fargo, ND which was the inspiration for the name Prairiewood Wealth Management. I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota\'s Carlson School of Business where I received my undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance. I went on to obtain my MBA from Columbia Business School where my studies and apprenticeships focused on value investing. I started my career at Ernst & Young, LLP where I was a Senior Manager in the Financial Services Risk Management group. I provided advisory services to Banks, Insurance Companies, Asset Managers, and Hedge Fund clients from Minneapolis, New York City, and Zurich, Switzerland offices. I am a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). After Ernst & Young, I returned to Fargo in 2008 and founded Prairiewood Wealth Management where I serve our clients as their family CFO.Prairiewood is a fiduciary, fee-only, independent wealth management firm, and we are committed to providing full-service investment management and financial planning to our clients. Because we believe a comprehensive approach to wealth management is necessary to help our clients reach their goals, we include one of our in-house CPAs in the ongoing planning process and utilize our professional network of estate and insurance professionals to integrate detailed tax, estate, and insurance planning into the full wealth management process.
