ABOUT STEVEN MITCHELL
I am a highly experienced Programme Manager and transformational change delivery specialist. I’m proud to have worked for many of the world’s leading organisations including BAE Systems, TATA Chemicals Europe, Rolls-Royce, RDS and Ineos. I have experience in delivering complex projects in a range of industrial markets:At BAE Systems, I successfully completed a remit to oversee the efficient control and implementation of various international defence contracts. At TATA Chemicals Europe, I was appointed to oversee the design, planning, and construction of a £400m project to build energy from waste. At Rolls-Royce, I successfully led the design and build of a manufacturing cell to facilitate new manufacturing working practices. I controlled budget valued at £10m; 5 direct reports and all third-party vendors. I also drove overall operational activities; ensured optimum utilisation of available resources, while aligning supply chain to meet project needs. One of my core sectors is energy. The energy transition is finally gathering pace, with over 70% of the world’s GDP now covered by a net-zero target. Many advanced economies aim to decarbonize by 2050, with China committing to 2060. The UK has a drive for sustainable waste management. This includes recycling but also ensuring that non-recyclable waste does not end up in landfill. It’s essential that waste is appropriately managed to allow energy and valuable materials to be recovered. This lowers carbon footprints and contributes to important social and environmental goals. I feel privileged to have directed major, multi-million-pound projects focused on solving such issues at Tata, Stopford Energy and Engenda. Central to my success as a Programme Manager are my natural interpersonal skills and ability to communicate easily in any situation. I’m passionate about bringing greater humanity into industrial markets and the energy sector. I strive to improve communications between stakeholders which enhances overall project and business performance. On many occasions I have established robust and committed teams for projects based on leading from the front and establishing open dialogue. If you need a project director across renewables, defence, energy/oil and gas, electric vehicles infrastructure, clean energy, clean carbon, I’d be delighted to connect.
