ABOUT STEVEN KURNIAWAN

My everlasting passions towards developing and inquiring knowledge has led to many various road-paths. I am curious by nature and will always be a student infatuated by new information. My innate skillsets are of story telling and creating a narrative from different arenas of life. The intersection of my passions resonate between media and data. I enjoy combining my creative and technical approaches to derive actionable insights in a professional and personal setting. My technical and soft skills were developed from years of academia. Throughout many insightful courses, the guidance and expertise of many educators in their respected professions, I have gained different perspectives and concentrated my interests in the areas of Business Methodologies, Data Science, Economics, Media Applications, Product Development/Management and more. I have obtained a Bachelors of Arts Degree from the City University of New York, Queens College in Economics and a Master of Arts Degree from the City University of New York, Queens College in Data Analytics and Applied Social Research in concentration of Market Research. My infatuation towards sports and analytics have inspired me to pursue comprehensive research in this subject matter. My Master\'s thesis research \"Pay Variations of NBA Players: The Correlation Between Performance and Pay\" combines the contents of sports and analytics for many different purposes such as improving business processes, operational efficiencies, strategy development and C-suite level decision making. In addition to my academic background, I have also completed and obtained two separate certifications from Google for Data Analytics and Project Management. These certifications have enhanced my technical skills and analytical proficiencies to adhere to the corporate landscape by utilizing and implementing project management methodologies such as Agile, Lean, Kanban, Six Sigma, Waterfall and Scrum.I have worked in different sectors and roles in academia, finance, media, real estate, transportation, and technology industries that have given me perspective and diversity within my professional career. My current roles as a Research Analyst and Adjunct Lecturer teaching statistics have formulated my skillsets of data analysis, methodological rigor, continuous learning and effectively solving abstract problems. Being in different roles and industries has also replenished my sentiments to becoming as knowledgable and as skilled as I can be for my clients and students.
