ABOUT STEVEN KINNUNEN

An emerging Cyber Security Analyst at iG2 Group Inc. My education includes a Post Graduate certificate in Business Insights and Analytics at Humber College, a Master of Information at the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. My current role has exposed me to network operations, security operations, business analysis, data analysis and application development. My prior education equipped me with tools such as Python, R, Power BI as well as advanced statistical methods, machine learning techniques and data analytics. The projects I have been involved with have taught me how to research a problem, understand it from a business perspective, collect relevant data, perform necessary preprocessing, selecting the correct algorithm or method for the use case in mind and presenting the results in an effective manner. Additionally, I have been ingrained with a deep sense of how proposed solutions can impact the business, customers and society writ large, relevant policy and ethical issues as well as how to address these with proper data governance.My prior humanities education has instilled a deep curiosity and desire to understand problems from a multidisciplinary perspective. This has continued to the present as I frequently take additional classes and read about the latest trends in networking, cyber security, algorithms, data structures and more in my spare time.
