The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is a major state agency responsible for maintaining one of the nation’s largest transportation networks. With a mission to provide a safe, accessible, well maintained, and future ready transportation system, ODOT supports the state highway system and advances transportation initiatives across Ohio.
ODOT manages and maintains all state and federal highways outside of municipalities, as well as all interstates except the Ohio Turnpike. • Snow & Ice Operations – ensure road safety during winter weather.
• Communications – keep the public informed via traffic advisories, online tools, and real-time updates.
• Business & Contracting – manage heavy highway bid opportunities, consultant services, manuals, and permits
ODOT is led by a Director with cabinet-level authority. Its organizational structure includes divisions dedicated to engineering, field operations, planning, policy, workforce development, construction, finance, information technology, human resources, communications, and executive affairs. Together, these teams work to deliver a transportation system that meets the needs of Ohio’s traveling public.
