The Fire Investigation Unit is assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division of the King County Sheriff\'s Office. By RCW and King County Code, the FIU shall investigate promptly the origin, cause, extent, and responsibilities of each and every fire occurring in the jurisdiction involving loss of life or injury to person or destruction or damage to property; and, if it appears that such a fire is of suspicious origin, they shall then take immediate charge of all physical evidence relating to the cause of the fire and shall pursue the investigation to its conclusion.Respond to scene as lead investigator, coordinate the police and fire response and investigations of multiple investigators for fire fatality & catastrophic loss investigations. Coordinate the parallel investigations with King County Medical Examiner\'s Office, the KCSO Major Crimes Unit (Homicide) or local Police Department, Prosecuting Attorney Office, as well as local Fire Department Inspector/Investigation team in connection to fire fatality investigations. Serve as one of two \"Authorized Administrators\" for ISO Claim Search for the FIU. As an \"Authorized Administrator\" I am responsible for managing user access, user reactivation, and periodic validation of continued user access.Interact with private fire investigators and insurance companies in both criminal and civil cases.Update the SOPs of the FIU, Field Training Program, FTO Manual, Fire Investigator II Job Classification/hob description, and other policies, procedures, and administrative projects as assigned. Act as Field Training Officer for new fire investigators assigned to the FIU for both fire [Origin and Cause] and arson [Criminal follow up] investigations.
