About Steven Wells
My background is as a systems developer focusing on flash memory. I have been involved in the component and systems development of flash memory at Intel since 1987. Prior to Intel I worked for both aggressive startups including ALF and IOMega corporation where I cut my teeth on system design (board, bios, software, storage). My emphasis has been on systems development of flash memory products including memory management and NVM policy theory and deployment. Much of the fundamental IP for defect management, wear leveling, and application to the ATA interface was captured by a team I lead. I’m currently a fellow at Micron Technology focusing on next generation SSD solutions with 60+ patents in the area of NV storage. My one and only project outside of flash memory was as post silicon validation lead for Pentium 2 program managing 90 engineers.
