Operated as a member of Stryker’s Tax Leadership Team that sets strategic vision for the department, determines resource allocation, manages department budget, determines organizational priorities and objectives, manages certain personnel matters, and oversees other areas as requested by the C-suite • Managed a group of up to fifteen tax directors, managers and staff, with a general Gallup score of 4.8 • Managed a budget of approximately $6 million per year • Set for the strategic direction for all Tax Positions that the company took • Global responsibility for the tax and reporting implications of all tax planning and operational projects that occur regardless of location – U.S. international, Federal, SALT, or local country • Directed structuring and funding of approximately $20 billion in acquisitions and dispositions, as well as directing the post-acquisition legal entity and operational integrations • Key member of the ASC740 tax provision process, reviewing calculations and disclosure to ensure proper reporting from both an accounting and tax technical perspective, including identifying operating vs non-GAAP reporting issues and FIN 48 items, while working closely with U.S. and local external financial auditors • Tax lead, and member of the core team, on an operationally lead Global Principal Structure project that focused on changing the enterprise-wide operating model by establishing a Dutch based regional headquarters that saved approximately $200 million tax annually and also provided a platform to increase European sales • Key member of the company’s ERP project team, responsible for redefining the global supply chain, legal structure, and various tax reporting requirements • Designed, developed, and implemented world-class automated TP solutions to gather data from over 40 ERPs, perform calculations and generate local documentation, while increasing data quality and drastically reducing manhours
