ABOUT STEVEN MCKENDRICK

I am currently working as a Mechanical/TMJI Bolting and Leak/Pressure Testing Technician. I Work onshore at chemical, gas and petrochemical plants and work offshore in the north sea on various installations. I use a broad range of tools to break containment and torque flanges/clamps to the correct torque values. I Replace faulty spools, valves, flanges and gaskets. I carry out inspections on different size flanges and then replace any faulty bolts nuts and gaskets. I am familiar with P & ID and isometric drawings. I carry out hydrostatic pressure tests on new and existing pipelines, valves and heat exchangers. I always check the testing gauges are calibrated and in date and set the testing rig up using correct procedures and in line with health and safety. I have all offshore certificates and medical. I have completed the TMJI 10,11,18,19,20 tests for Hydraulic Bolt tensioning and torque setting. I have completed the CCNSG Safety Passport, Working at Heights, Harness awareness, Abrasive wheels, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness. I worked part time as a vehicle technician on cars and small vans. I used to carry out services on petrol and diesel engines, changing braking, transmission and engine components. I worked as a Prison Officer from January 2005 until March 2014. Working as a Prison Officer has provided me with a vast amount of transferrable skills such as excellent communication and time management. I have respect for the workplace, its rules, regulations and safety procedures. In my current role I carry out dynamic risk assessments throughout the day and adhere to Health and Safety Regulations. I work hard and I am always looking for new challenges and enjoy learning new skills. I am confident and competent in using the personal radio system and I am computer literate. During my time self employed I used a broad range of tools and machines including pneumatic and magnetic drills,styhl saws, angle grinders and other power tools.
