ABOUT STEVEN MCGANN
After Graduating from Law School magna cum laude, Steve started his career at the Office of the Ohio Attorney General, Health and Human Services. While there, he served as lead counsel in numerous hearings to ensure Nursing Homes were in compliance with Ohio law, prosecuted (civil) for abuse and neglect of the elderly residents, protected the WIC program from fraud and abuse, and ensured that our medical/health care professionals were practicing within the standard of care. He was quickly promoted to Lead Counsel for the Ohio Department of Health. There he protected young adults from permanent and severe eye damage by leading a state-wide investigation of improper sales of cosmetic lenses, which led to many TROs and settlement agreements to prohibit the illegal sales. Steve also led the legal team for the protection of the (then) recently passed Smoke Free Ohio Act. Steve was involved in early cases of the opioid crisis that involved theft of thousands of prescription opioids from pharmacies. He continued his litigation experience against the major tobacco companies as lead trial attorney requesting injunctive relief and monetary penalties for improper advertising directed towards young adults, where he prevailed against a room full of Defendants’ attorneys. He volunteered for office-wide litigation, including election law federal cases protecting the right to vote and the sanctity of Ohio\'s voting machines. He was also involved with special litigation for technology issues, protection of source codes, and the fight against illegal gambling machines. Later on, Steve was on the litigation team for dozens of multi million dollar cases involving fraudulent conduct against construction matters of the Ohio Department of Transportation. In private practice, Steve focuses on trust, estate/guardianship, as well as some general litigation. Steve has worked with many business clients to guide them through contract and real estate negotiations, intellectual property, and employment issues. He also stays current on cyber security and privacy law issues, as well as LGBTQIA+ youth concerns. Steven enjoys working with clients to assist them through troubling times of loss, whether it is through estate administration or wrongful death, or even the loss of capacity through guardianship and mental health cases. He also helps clients with estate and wealth transfers. Lately, his biggest reward has been helping those going through mental health crisis, assisting the Probate Court with these cases. He hopes to make a positive impact for all clients.
