ABOUT STEVEN KRIPPNER

Influential and effective, I am an executive business leader with more than 25 years’ international experience driving the performance and impact of the treasury function for global multinationals. My detailed knowledge of treasury and wider finance functions is complemented by a proven ability to drive transformation and support sustained business growth through the development of new operating models, large-scale system and process change.Currently consulting as a Senior Adviser to PwC, up until 2023, I was the Treasurer of the Baker Hughes Company, where I led the design and execution of the separation from GE and set up an independent 70 headcount Treasury function. I also established long- and short-term credit ratings and funding for the new entity, substantially raised the level of cash available for capital allocation, refined hedging and exposure management strategies, was centrally involved in M&A activity across acquisitions and divestments, improved insurance risk management and boosted investment performance for pension assets in the billions of dollars.Born and raised in New Zealand, I completed my Chartered Accountant training with PwC, taking on roles in their Banking and Capital Markets Practice in the UK and the Risk Management Advisory Practice in the US before joining GE in Connecticut as a Managing Director in their Corporate Treasury. In this role, my very broad remit included bringing clarity and efficiency to the Treasury function as overall lead on a ~$750M+, multi-year programme to rationalise and standardise Treasury, Risk Management, Banking & Payment systems and processes. My knowledge and understanding of banking and financial markets was further enhanced during stints in finance transformation programmes with Macquarie in Australia and Credit Suisse in Singapore and London.Having navigated a number of business cycles and market crises, I am valued for my ability to anticipate future needs and challenges, quickly identifying both business and financial risks and opportunities. I pride myself on building motivated, high-performing teams, knowing what skill sets are needed, taking a long-term view on capabilities and cost model, and ensuring the team are organised and empowered to deliver.
